France - Day 4

Hubby and I woke up early and left the sleepy girls at 11am. The girls were tired - a combination of jet lag and some rigorous touring days. We had lunch at Cafe Tourville on the way to visit the Musee de l'Armee and Napoleon's Tomb. That was an amazing museum! We spent about 3 hours in there.

We returned to the apartment to pick up the girls, and we all walked to the Musee de l'Orangerie. We saw many beautiful paintings (works by Degas and Renoir, as well as the famous Water Lilies by Monet).

We walked along the Champs Élysées. We had some treats of pain au chocolat, palmier, and beignet from Paul's Boulangerie. We shopped at Naf Naf, H&M, and the French department store, Monoprix, which had some really amazing French cosmetics, hair products, and fashion. You can imagine us girls going a bit crazy going through all the cool stuff.

Then had dinner at Laduree on the Champs d'Elysees. Wow. Nice place and fantastic service. We were very impressed with this classic, iconic French restaurant, well known for their macaroons.

The girls shared a club sandwich. I had a bite - it was amazing!

My omelette
Mark and I shared the Laduree house chicken salad. It was delicious, probably the best salad I've ever had.
Marissa had this strawberry cupcake for dessert. It was delicious.
Kiki had macaroons, which Laduree is famous for.

A spot of rain and lightning came about while we were having dinner - quite surprising given what a nice, breezy summer day we had.

By the time we left, the rain had stopped and we continued on to the Arc de Triomphe. It was dark and a fabulous experience to see Paris sparkle from the top of the Arc de Triomphe. So glad we chose to do this at night.

Then off to the metro to get back to the apt. A good day overall. Only thing we didn't do that was on our itinerary was a few hours at the Louvre. C'est la vie - there's always tomorrow.
